This autumn we’ll be putting our heads together to tackle real marketing challenges from local organisations, charities, and community projects. You'll choose a brief, join a team, and spend the afternoon letting your brain off the leash 🧠
The stakes are low but the pay-off is high, as it’s a win for everyone. The brands up front get a boatload of fresh ideas, while you get to stretch creative muscles that don't always see much action in the day-to-day 💪 Plus pick up new perspectives, tactics, and connections you can take back into your work.

Get ready for the fourth international bioinformatics hackathon in Cambridge with collaborative teams Welcome to the Joint International Bioinformatics Hackathon – Cambridge! Join us at the Downing Site, University of Cambridge for an exciting in-person event where bioinformatics enthusiasts come together to collaborate, innovate, and hack away! Whether you're a seasoned coder or just starting out, this hackathon offers a unique opportunity to network, learn, and have fun. This is the fourth edition of our joint International Bioinformatics Hackathon. Join us for an exciting event that will bring together computational scientists across Belgium and the UK in the field of life sciences and technology. The Joint VIB-UAntwerp - Babraham Institute-Cambridge Hackathon is your chance to collaborate and innovate in a vibrant stress-free space! Starting on Wednesday September 9th, 2026 this 3-day in-person event will take place simultaneously at University of Cambridge, UK (Downing site) University of Antwerp, Belgium Whether you're an advanced coder or a beginner, this hackathon is open to everyone with an interest in bsolving biological problems! Lead on your own project or join a team, and tackle challenges that span a wide range of topics, including genomics, bioinformatics, data analysis, and more. The hackathon will run for ~8h a day and includes evening social activities! We will publish project summaries as hackathon proceedings in f1000. University of Edinburgh
BioHackathon Edinburgh is part of a broader Bio-Innovation Series which consists of pre-hackathon workshops, the flagship BioHackathon event, and post-hackathon continuation workshops. Together, these stages bring biologists, programmers, and industry partners into a shared space for hands-on problem-solving, skill-building, and entrepreneurial exploration. We aim to cultivate a long-lasting ecosystem that supports collaboration, innovation, and the translation of academic research into real-world, potentially commercialisable solutions.
Planning Aid Scotland
A free, interactive workshop for anyone interested in exploring QGIS and digital mapping through practical group exercises. This in-person session will introduce practical digital mapping skills and show how spatial data can support planning and place-based project work. What you will explore Using QGIS, a digital mapping tool for planning and spatial analysis, participants will work with place-based data to explore how maps can help us understand places more clearly. You will look at how different layers of information can be brought together to reveal patterns, opportunities and challenges. Experienced digital mappers are welcome to come along and use their preferred programme. Why digital mapping matters The workshop is not only about learning how to use a mapping tool. It is also about understanding how data can tell different stories depending on what we choose to measure, prioritise and visualise. You will have the chance to test ideas and discuss findings with others. Who should attend This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in developing digital mapping skills. It may be particularly useful for people working in, studying or volunteering around planning, spatial data, place-based projects or community-led planning. You do not need to be a digital mapping expert to take part. The workshop will be friendly, practical and supportive, with opportunities to learn from others and build confidence.
